Sunrise

In Poems on February 12, 2010 at 7:57 am

Orange and round glowing in the dark
Raising above hill tops gray
Watching over the desert so stark
He rolls up to brighten your day

Warm and tender his rays are first
Lift your spirits, to face the world
Yellow he turns midday through
Burns the sand, but saves the world

Rights the wrong from dark to day
Controls the heat, middle he stays
Sometimes though his wrath is felt hard
When we think and let down the guard

Six sometimes he goes to sleep
Till nine in seasons he waits
Glows he does through the dark at times
In places, where nights remain days

His color, brightness, may change
But hope he brings in hearts always
For sure we are that another day has come
When the ball of fire lights the skies
